Marty Fullard was inspired to play drums after listening to Led Zeppelin's "Since I've been loving you." Fullard began playing along, age 5.
An LBI/Concordia graduate, Marty Fullard brings to the drumset over four decades of experience. During those forty-five years of drumming experience, Fullard has coached over 3000 drummers of all ages, abilities, experience, styles & genres. Fullard has also coached & mentored 1000's of other drum educators & is proud to list Platinum-selling drummers among his roster.
Fullard has performed at NAMM for Promark Drumsticks, Evans Drumheads, Premier Drums USA. As a clinician, Fullard has performed for Promark, Evans & Puresound Snare wires at Sam Ash Music Stores & Guitar Center, Music schools, Grade Schools, Universities & Churches. For the better part of a decade, Fullard was a keynote speaker/lecturer on "Drumming & Music Industry", Concordia University, Irvine, CA.
Marty is Executive Director of Inner City Music Program, a not-for-profit Organization promoting "BANDS, NOT GANGS" in Paramount/Compton, CA. The Program offers kids and young adults an alternative to gangs thru Performing Arts. For the Program, Fullard performed clinics with Alex Acuna, Mark Schulman, Gina Schock, Jeff Ocheltree & others.
As an educator, Fullard is experienced working with children (of all ages), & adults from all backgrounds. Marty Fullard is also a Special Needs Facilitator. Fullard is an advocate of correct technique & Rudiments' education & application - such dedication to rudiments lead him to coach several Platinum selling drummers & session drummers in Los Angeles. Marty teaches & encourages sight reading with the correct balance of feel, pocket & groove. As a professional drummer, Fullard has headlined such prestigious venues as LA's 'The Whisky', Sunset Tower Records, & House of Blues. His Studio references include; The Record Plant, & Front Page Recorders, Burbank, CA.
Marty Fullard is the co-founder of Professional Drum Teachers Guild. The Guild includes Billy Joel's anchorman Liberty DeVitto, Billy Ward, Paul Wertico, Sandy Gennaro Johnny Rabb & many others. There are 100's of members representing about 6000 drumming students.
Marty, his wife & two children relocated to Solihull, Birmingham, England where Fullard currently resides & works as a professional drum educator. Fullard teaches drums in schools, & privately. Marty Fullard is a Promark drumstick education endorser, Evans drumheads educator endorser, Puresound Snare wires educator endorser, ISTANBUL AGOP Cymbal endorser and is a NATAL drum endorser. Other Educational Endorsements include AHEAD Armor drum cases. Marty is also a charter member and proud founding member of D'Addario Education Collective with good friend JIm Bailey.
Marty's awards include; Best of Irvine (Orange County) CA, multiple times. Marty was also awarded Mapex drums 'Golden drum key' for services to drum education for Inner City Music Program. In 2012, Marty was nominated 'Best drum educator' by World Drumming Association. Marty's other drum education friend, and PDTG member Dom Famularo, listed Marty as a "Modern Drummer Magazine Best Drum Teacher." LIke Dom, Marty Fullard is passionate about the D'Addario family of percussion brands including; Promark, Evans & Puresound.
Marty loves education & majors in correct stick technique, odd time signatures, drum tuning, rudiments & notation. Marty studied with Jim Chapin and developed his own variation of JIm's Moeller technique.
