Drummer, composer, and educator Tyshawn Sorey continues to inspire audiences throughout the world with his inventive, adventurous, virtuosic approach to the drum set in a seemingly boundless array of musical situations ranging from solo improvisation, jazz, groove-oriented, and electroacoustic music to extended song forms and through-composed, hyper-complex contemporary rhythmic music for small groups, chamber ensembles and orchestras. One of the most respected, in-demand musicians and composers in the NYC and European music scenes, Tyshawn has a varied discography and released 20 albums as a bandleader, composer, and co-composer. He has performed alongside creative masterminds such as King Britt, Dave Douglas, Bill Frisell, High Priest (HPrizm), Greg Osby, Vijay Iyer, Bill Laswell, Dave Liebman, Val-Inc, Joe Lovano, Linda Oh, and John Zorn, among many others.
