Andri Bjartur is a Icelandic drummer based in Reykjavík, Iceland. He started playing drums in 1997 when she was 9 years old. He got his first lessons at his elementary school and he also played with the school band. Late 2003 he formed his first band MAMMÚT with his friends.
Early 2004 they won the annual Battle of the bands in Iceland. MAMMÚT crafts distorted songs while always maintaining a solid grasp on melody. In March 2014 the group received the Icelandic Music Awards for the best album, best song and best album cover for their latest album “Komdu til mín svarta systir”. MAMMÚT is a powerhouse on stage, delivering series of searing post-punk songs that are splendidly fractured and neurotic.
In 2015 MAMMÚT signed a deal with Bella Union (UK).
In 2012 Andri started playing with a singer songwriter Jon Jonsson. Jonsson has been referred to as the European version of Jack Johnson, John Mayer, and Gavin DeGraw. His music contains a mix of pop and R&B with undertones of R&B. His songs range from romantic lyric ballads to piano and guitar driven pop. Jonsson’s first four singles were in the top 30 on Iceland music charts.
Andri graduated from FIH (Music School - Association of Icelandic Musicians) in 2013.
Andri has also been doing session. He has played live and on records for some promising acts in Iceland. To name a few: Studmenn, Frostrosir, Dikta, Berndsen and Yoanna Gudrun.
