Elfa Zulham (EZ) is a jazz drummer, music producer and educator based in Jakarta City. In year 2006, EZ began his study for Jazz & Contemporary Music at the Prins Claus Conservatorium, Groningen, The Netherlands, also a year of exchange studies at the University of The Arts, Philadelphia back in 2009. In year 2011, he decided to continue his music career back home in Indonesia.
In addition to leading his own group EZ Jazz Quartet, He is a member of Sri Hanuraga’s trio, Joey Alexander’s trio, The Jongens Quartet and Re-Bop Unit. He has been featured on over 40 recordings with various artists. Besides working as a performer and music producer, he is also a music label owner of Azura Records, The Jazz Gate founder and program coordinator for one of the biggest jazz festival, the International Java Jazz Festival since 2017.
Away from jazz, EZ has done production work from jazz, pop, rnb, soul to hip hop. In May 2017 he has released a single from Azura Record’s hip hop compilation with Shotgun Dre - Raising Hell. He has created his new solo project “Elfa Zulham & The Beatz Messengers” a jazz & hip hop music project that inspired by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers band formation, and released a single - Fuego Ft. Ezra Kunze in 2018.
He has studied jazz drumming with Aksan Sjuman, Gilang Ramadhan, Steve Alternberg, Owen Hart Jr, Joost Van Schaik dan Ralph Peterson Jr, and got masterclass and private with Ari Hoenig, Ali Jackson, Greg Hutchinson, Gene Jackson dan Willie Jones iii.
