Drummer, bandleader and session musician based in Warsaw, Poland.
Mateusz has studied with top Polish jazz and fusion drummers, like Cezary Konrad, Kazimierz Jonkisz, Zbigniew Lewandowski, Grzegorz Grzyb and many more. In 2012 he has won the drumset contest at the International Percussion Festival in Opole. In 2010 he has won a linear-lick contest held by Mike Johnston and the Modern Drummer Magazine.
In the late 2013, Mateusz has formed his own trio named taktoprawda
(TTP) with bass player Bartek Łuczkiewicz and guitar player Tymoteusz Miłowanow. With their love and passion for exploring new musical ways of expression, TTP blends a jazz-fusion approach with hip-hop vocabulary, translating the language of glitch-beats and samples to live instruments. The fresh minds of Mateusz, Bartek and Tymoteusz, combined with the sensitivity of their well-known guest vocalists (including raggamuffin singer and rapper Pablopavo and jazz singer Dorota Miśkiewicz) result in a mixture that's thrilling and impossible to classify.
Currently he is also the drummer for Michał Milczarek Trio
(jazz/fusion) and rapper Ńemy (hip-hop).
Mateusz has performed with Michał Urbaniak, Maria Sadowska, Majka Jeżowska, Izabela Trojanowska, Olga Matuszewska, Monika Kręt, Zagi, The Cookies, NuSoulCity and many other artists. He is a versatile and increasingly in-demand session musician. He has toured all across Poland and played at various festivals in Europe.
Mateusz is also active as a teacher and as a member of Warsaw's jam session community.
Mateusz endorses Pellwood drumsticks and Istanbul Agop cymbals. He is in love with the way the rich, traditional sounds of Agop cymbals blend into his electronic music and hip-hop inspired playing.
