Diversity, art, music and the never-ending quest for groove have enveloped David Butler's life for the past 15 years. An accomplished drummer and percussionist on the NYC scene, he maintains a busy schedule of touring and studio work. David has cris- crossed North America many times over, with legends such as reggae innovator Lee "Scratch" Perry and Dub Is A Weapon. He has recorded with renowned percussionist Billy Martin from the jazz/funk trio Medeski, Martin and Wood. David currently holds down the drum chair in the Philly based, americana rockers, American Babies and in the Brooklyn based, reggae hipster, Sean Bones. On his down time from touring, he is a first-call freelance drummer for singer/songwriters, rock, jazz and world music groups around the city. David is also an experienced instructor and maintains a busy teaching schedule. He earned a Certificate of Music Performance from the famed Drummers Collective, and has studied with Ian Froman, Billy Martin, Adam Deitch, Shawn Pelton, Michael Lauren and Joe Russo. Always looking to expand his musical horizons, David is continuously searching for new and exciting ways of expression to let the power of music lead his journey through life. He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY and endorses Istanbul AGOP cymbals.
