Alexander Flood is one of Australia’s commanding beat-masters, possessing a finessed arsenal of groove, power, and expertise on the drums. His unique sound and approach on the instrument has been crafted through many years of study, training, and dedication to music. Leading his band from the drum chair, Alex’s music pushes a fresh rhythmic and dynamic realm of live dance music leaning on nu-jazz, house, broken beat, DnB, funk, and experimental sounds.
Winning the Australia’s Best Up And Coming Drummer competition aged 19 in the open-age category was just the beginning of Alex’s accelerating trajectory in music, which has seen him go on to perform with some heavyweight artists including Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah), Elena Pinderhughes, Weedie Braimah, Àbáse, Horatio Luna, Vivian Sessoms, Nelson Dialect, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, West Australian Symphony Orchestra, and Queensland Symphony Orchestra to name a few.
2023 finds Flood aligning with Berlin’s Jakarta Records to release his third album “Oscillate”, forging a new direction in dance music and bringing together Australian & European artistry, energy and collaboration.
