
Alexander Flood is one of Australia’s most creative and versatile drummers and percussionists, presenting a strong and progressive voice both on his instrument and through his compositions. Alex has honed a unique sound that blends modern and traditional dance rhythms with nu-jazz, improvisation, and contemporary sound design.
Holding a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance (Jazz) and graduating top of his class in 2017, Alex has been the recipient of many prestigious awards including Australia’s Best Up And Coming Drummer (2016), and has toured and performed with several renowned artists including, Àbáse, Horatio Luna, Marquis Hill, the ASO, WASO, QSO and most notably touring Europe with Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah in September 2022. Alex has also toured and recorded with his own band in Europe in July 2022.
January 2022 saw the release of Flood’s sophomore album “The Space Between” on Stretch Music (via Ropeadope), through which he has worked alongside his mentor, 6x GRAMMY® nominee Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah. The record features a conglomerate of international artists including Adjuah, Vivian Sessoms, Zayn Mohammed, Nelson Dialect, and more. Flood also produced a short documentary film to accompany the album’s release, shining a light on the process of creation and collaboration.
