Maxx Furian was born in Milan on November 8, 1966. His first approach to the drums was at the age of 10, when he began studying with the famous teacher Enrico Lucchini. Always faithful to the jazz tradition, he also developed various paths that led him to become a true fusion drummer and to develop a strong musical personality, which he himself defined as “Liquid Groove Drummer”. In 1993 Maxx moved to Los Angeles to study with Chad Wackerman. He also specialized in R&B, jazz and funk groove.
In the years, he collaborated and still collaborates with many jazz artists such as Randy Brecker, Antonio Faraò, Mike Manieri, David Garfield, Mario Rusca, Riccardo Fioravanti, Paolo Birro, Federico Malaman, Alberto Bonacasa, Stefano Senni, Ada Rovatti, Jeff Berlin, Marco Micheli, Paolo Fresu, Janek Gwizdala, Bob Mintzer Othello Molineaux, Mauro Negri, Mattia Cigalini, Marco Ricci, Tullio Ricci, Alberto Tafuri, Micheal Blake, Marco Micheli, Robert, Perico Sambeat, Mark Nightingale, Emanuele Cisi, Aldo Mella, Andrea Dulbecco, Enrico Rava, Furio Di Castri, Horacio “el negro” Hernandez, Mike Stern, Flavio Boltro, Sonny Taylor, Mario Rosini, Laura Fedele, Massimo Moriconi, Marco Bianchi, Gigi Ciffarelli, Christian Galvez, Bebo Ferra and many others.
In 1992 he founded the jazz trio “New Trio One” together with Marco Bianchi. Founder and member of “La Drummeria”, a super band composed by 5 high-level Italian drummers. In 2010 he founded “Timelin3” with Federico Malaman, Alberto Bonacasa and Marco Scipione. Other recent projects are “Andrea Dulbecco Trio” (Tacchi, Furian), “The Thieves” (T.Ricci, M.Ricci, Tafuri, Furian) and “Liquid Places” (Negri, Birro, Senni, Furian). “Nick, the Nightfly Big Band”, “Tlife” (Feliciati, Chebat, Meneghello), Saddex (Chebat, Bottacchiari).
Some prestigious masterclasses he held: New York Drummers Collective, MI Los Angeles, Jeff Porcaro Memorial Festival (2000, Koblenz, Germany), TAMA 50th Anniversary (2024, The Netherlands).
He also collaborated with POP artists such as Laura Pausini, Nek, 883, Max Pezzali, Franco Battiato, Patty Pravo, Dj Francesco, Suor Cristina, Enzo Jannacci, Elio e le storie tese, Tosca, Rossana Casale, Paola e Chiara, Francesco Baccini, Luka Jurman, Fabio Concato, Ornella Vanoni, Sarah Jane Morris.
