Magnús Trygvason Eliassen (b. 1985) has from a young age studied and performed music; he started his music studies at the tender age of seven and has not stopped since. Magnús studied at FÍH school of music in Reykjavík and at the music faculty of NTNU in Trondheim, Norway, taking lessons with Matthías Hemstock, Tor Haugerud and Erik Quik to name a few.
Based in the greater Reykjavík area, Magnús has performed and recorded with many well renowned musicians from Iceland and from abroad, including ADHD, amiina, Moses Hightower, Farao, Ingibjörg Turchi, Tumi Árnason, Magnús Jóhann, Tómas Jónsson, Hist og, Cell7, Ólöf Arnalds, Ólafur Arnalds, Skúli Sverrison, Damien Rice, Erlend Oye, Dustin O’Halloran, Ingi Bjarni Skúlason, etc. and he has also written music for film and theater. Magnús has been lucky enough to receive quite a few prizes and awards for the work that he has done with a lot of these bands and projects; with ADHD he has received many awards, including JazzRecord of the year at the 2011 Iceland Music awards, ADHD also got the award for performer of the year at the 2019 Iceland Music Awards, with Moses Hightower he and his bandmates won the award songwriters of the year at the 2017 Iceland Music Awards and Magnús was also voted Jazz Performer of the year at the 2021 Iceland Music Awards. He also spends quite a few months a year touring the world with his many bands and projects, projects like ADHD, amiina, Ingi Bjarni tríó, Cell7 just to name a few.
While not touring, recording or writing music, Magnús watches football religiously and reads as much as he can.
